Hi, I’m ROMA.

I’m a UK/Bahrain-based visual artist working in the spaces of animation and illustration, currently exploring projects that engage in history, education, and children’s literature.

After years of creating primarily branded content, I am currently on a journey
to bring some of my own ideas to the forefront.

I am an artist and animator with a love for creating vibrant visual stories.

The moving image has always been an integral part of who I am. Animation in all its forms is a captivating medium that transcends the boundaries often encountered by video cameras alone. It can be best summarised by Professor Paul Wells as an ‘omnipresent visual language of the 21st century’.

Following my BA in Animation, I’ve created animation for advertising agencies, educational institutions, local councils and non-profit organisations. I put work into developing my craft, storytelling and software skills.

Having entered a chapter of freelancing, I engage with community projects, taking part in animation and illustration that elevates and inspires through a fundamental connection to history and heritage. I lean into educational projects, and taught a workshop in partnership with the Arts Council-funded Play Office to bring the worlds of technology and traditional flip-book animation together in an accessible way. Projects such as Alleyways of AlUla with Sustainable Conservation Trust inspire me as I take part.

Every year I venture to festivals such as LIAF and Annecy, celebrating the ritual that brings us together at 24 frames per second. It is this grounding process that has helped me transition to a life between the UK and Bahrain, where I continue to seek and find community.
